Festive Celebrations
Kajli Teej is one of the most prominent festivals of Bundi, held in July or August. The festival is marked by a procession of Goddess Teej in a decorated palanquin, from the Naval Sagar Lake to Azad Park. Celebrated by married couples with great fervour and excitement, performances by Hadoti artists are prominent parts of the celebrations. Another annual celebration is the Bundi Festival renders a colour to the otherwise quiet town. It is marked by people paying obeisance to Lord Ganesha and worshipping the patron deity Charmanyawati. This is followed by lighted earthen lamps set afloat on the waters. Special treats are the boat race on the Chambal, the bullock cart race and the traditional aarti. A noteworthy festival indeed!
