Editor's Note
Picture this - rows and rows of bright rhododendrons amidst the swirling mist that engulfs the Blue Mountain of the region. Visiting Aizawl is almost like walking on the clouds. It is made of tiny homes with gardens showcasing bright flowers. And locals who celebrate just about every occasion with great splendor, music and awesome food! True, there isn't much you'd do in Aizawl, save some walking and discovering natural treasures. And it does seem that the state is really 'away from it all'. But no guidebook, and no 'first-hand information' can ever prepare you for the panoramas that unfold as you walk through the squares and lanes. Of course, whenever you visit Aizawl, make sure that you begin early (this is when you watch the brilliant sunrise and traces of the jhum fire on the mountain slopes), and wind up your sightseeing by 6 pm, since the town is relative laid-back. But then isn't a different world what you seek this holiday?
