This is more commonly recognized as Prayag, and the site where the mythical Saraswati River makes an appearance. One of India's most holy and historically-inclined cities, Allahabad is dotted with temples all over. True, much of the city has changed and hints of emerging modernity are evident in the reconstructions that now and then take place. Spend at least 2 days here, so you can see all there is to see. Take a boat ride early in the morning and watch the confluence of the three holy rivers at close quarters, before the crowd emerges. And if an assertion of faith is what you seek, visit it during the highly busy Kumbh Mela. No matter when you go, and what your reason might be, you will always discover more than what meets the eye…
