Some important festivals in Imphal are Yaoshang Festival, Kut, Ramzan Eid, Christmas, Cheiraoba, Lai Haraoba and many others. Manipuris believe in celebrating festivals throughout the year in order to lead a happy and content life. Kut is a kind of thanksgiving festival celebrated here in November. Yaoshang is a very merry festival that lasts for five days during which girls and boys dance the happy dance of Thabal Chongba, which means dancing by the moonlight.
