Editor's Note
It is indeed difficult to guage that merely 26 kms from the exquisite temple town of Khajuraho lies a park where sightings of the elusive predator is almost guaranteed. Panna National Park spreads almost 542 sq kms and is made up of dry deciduous forests and the winding Ken River. Another hunting ground-turned-wildlife sanctuary, a jeep safari through the rough terrain lets you watch interesting animals like gaurs, sambars, spotted deer and an occasional glimpse of the tiger and leopards. While likely encounters also include the nilgai, Indian gazelle and the four-horned antelope, an Elephant Safari considerably increases your chances of discovery, as you amble along leisurely down the tall grasses and dry forests. Next to park is the old Panna town, home to the largest diamond mines in Asia. Definitely a must-visit spot...
