Festive Celebrations
The Khasis celebrate two festivals with great pomp and show - Nongkrem Dance and Shad Suk Mynsiem. The Nongkrem Dance is held annually in October/November for 5 days straight, and it serves as a thanksgiving festival wherein the Khasis offer thanks for a good harvest season. Shad Suk Mynsiem, aka Dance of Happy Hearts, is a dance fest held in April in which the Khasis seek blessings for the year to come and express gratitude for the year that was. So, if you’re interested in exploring the culture and festivities of the Cherrapunjee Khasis, visiting here during their festivals is a great idea.
