Shopping Delights

The wall lining the Golden Temple is full of interesting stalls and shops selling kirpans and models and pictures of the Temple. They also sell interesting carved talwars, stainless-steel cutlery and books on Sikhism. Amritsar is also home to some exquisite handicrafts and handlooms, especially their phulkari and lacquered woodwork. Cooper Road, Mochi Bazaar, Guru Bazaar, Shastri Market, Mall Road and Hall Bazaar are well-known shopping hot-spots, offering an array of electronics, readymade garments, ornaments and books on Sikh literature and religion. The markets lining the Old City are known for their traditional clothes, jewellery, glass bangles, pickles, papad, wadian and embroidered jootis. Carry back home a few kilos of traditional sweets available at Kanhaiya Lal and Karachi Halwas from Novelty Sweets.
