Lawrence-Road-de-Tawe-de-Tikke has quite a variety of kebabs, puri aloos and aloo parathas. You can’t miss out on the famous Amritsari kulchas, which is available at Maqbool Road. The Amritsar Tandoori Restaurant is the place to pick from some great seekh kebab, mutton tikka and lasooni kebab! For great snacks, try Brijwasi – it has amazing papri chaat, aloo tikkis and pudina kanji. Unbelievably sumptuous parathas and dal are available at Kesar Da Dhaba. A must-try is the famous Amritsari macchi, which can be had at Makhan’s Fish Shop on Lawrence Road. For sweet-lovers, try the pinnis from Kanhaiya Lal and jalebis from the lanes of Katra Alluwalia. Novelty Restaurant and Novelty Sweets conjure everything from bhelpuris, Chinese, Karachi Halwas and burfis. Savour some masala chai from Giani’s Tea Stall. And finally, don’t forget to get a taste of the absolutely sinful kesar-pistewali-lassi-pedhe-de-naal (buttermilk flavoured with saffron and pistachio-encrusted pedha), or a glass of mattha (buttermilk spiced with ginger, green chillies, coriander and cumin) available at Kundan’s.
