Bikaner

This is a location less wandered to. Bikaner was once the stronghold of the Rajputs and traces of them are found in the towering sandstone havelis, exquisite memorials and the Junagarh Fort, which is believed to be the only fort not set on a hillock. Almost entirely a desert-land, it held little importance, except acting as an occasional passage into Rajasthan. And it remained lost on the tourism map, till some years ago its potential was recognized. Today its splendid havelis and courtyards lead many a tourist to discover their share of history in a city less traveled.
