Bhangarh Fort: The Bhangarh Fort figures in the list of haunted places in India, and for good reasons! The town, established in 1573, was apparently cursed by a vindictive tantrik and the town underwent a famine after which its population dwindled and vanished soon after. The town was left in ruins, and just one look at it is deeply unsettling.

Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary: One of the best wildlife sanctuaries in the country, Sariska is also a tiger reserve and houses several endangered species of animals and birds. Formerly, the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary was a hunting ground for the royalty of Rajasthan, but later, due to the efforts of Maharaja Jai Singh, Sariska was given the status of a sanctuary. You will find some of the most wonderful species of birds and animals in this sanctuary like leopards, neelgais, chausinghas, Grey Partridges, Peafowls, Tree Pie, Sand Grouse and many others.

Vijay Mandir Mahal: Made during the time of Maharaja Jai Singh Prabhakar in 1918 next to lake Vijay Sagar, the Vijay Mandir Mahal features 105 extravagant rooms and is quite a majestic sight. A luxuriant garden envelopes this palace, within which you can spend some time relaxing and reflecting on the regal history of Alwar.

Vinay Vilas Mahal: Also known as the City Palace, the Vinay Vilas Mahal is an 18th century structure that is nestled by the foothills of the Aravallis. Today, though, this majestic palace seems to have lost some of its grandeur what with some areas of it having been converted to government offices. Flaunting unmistakable regal Rajput architecture, this Mahal is totally worth visiting.

Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri: A chhatri is a cenotaph or memorial for someone buried/cremated elsewhere. Queen Moosi was one of the mistresses of Maharaja Bhaktawar Singh, who was given the status of his wife after she committed the act of Sati when he died. Tons of women, local and otherwise, visit the prettily carved Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri to pay homage to Queen Moosi.

Bala Quila: Alwar's oldest known fort is known by the name Bala Quila, meaning, Young Fort. Located on the Aravalli hills, Bala Quila has withstood the test of time for over 6 centuries and has seen such kingdoms like the Khanzadas, Mughals, Pathans and lastly Maharaja Pratap Singh thrive there. Though the fort is now almost in ruins, its former glory still cannot be denied.
