Khajjiar: Located approximately 24 kms from Dalhousie, Khajjiar in the Chamba district is a hill station that sits on a plateau and is surrounded by lush green meadows and forests. It lies at the foothills of the Dhauladhar range and is a rare mix of 3 ecosystems – pasture, lake and forest all in one. Owing to these reasons, this pretty little hill station is also known as the ‘Mini Switzerland’ of India.
Chamba: Chamba is a district in Himachal Pradesh and has a number of museums, restaurants and other attractions making it a great spot for sightseeing. There are several temples you can visit like the Chamunda Devi temple, Laxmi Narayan temple and Sui Mata temple, as well as Salooni, a site of great natural beauty.
Dainkund Peak: Dainkund peak is a favourite with tourists as you can take in the entire valley from up here. Also known as the singing hill because of the sounds the wind makes as it passes through the trees, Dainkund Peak has a quaint charm that you will love. People like to trek up this peak and visit the Pholani Devi temple which is a major attraction here. But even if you just want a serene place to reflect or enjoy your lush surroundings, Dainkund Peak is the place for you.
Ganji Pahadi Walk: This walk situated in the Bakrota hills about 5 kms away from Dalhousie is a pleasant walk that will overwhelm you with its stark beauty. It literally means ‘bald hill’ and is called that because the hill has no trees and it looks like it has a bald patch on the top.
Kalatop Wildlife Reserve: One of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in Himachal Pradesh, the Kalatop Wildlife Reserve features majestic hills, valleys, greenery and quaint villages surrounding it. There is a trail for trekking from Dalhousie to Kalatop which is really enjoyable and a jungle safari that most tourists prefer. A lot of species of animals and birds can be found in this sanctuary and meadows of soft grass and wildflowers make it an idyllic place for a picnic.
Gandhi Chowk: Gandhi Chowk is a famous attraction in Dalhousie owing to its being a shopping area too. Formerly known as GPO, Gandhi Chowk has a number of shops that sell a number of varied items, right from handicrafts to electronic goods.
