Our Picked Switzerland Attractions You Cannot Miss

Chateau de Chillon
Located ideally with splendid views of the Alps, the Chillon Castle is rather unique – one side a fortress facing the old road towards Italy and the other looking over the lake. Keeping its mystical allure alive, most of the sections here are very well-preserved. Some of the must-visit sections here are the dungeons, Bernese bedchamber, Hall of Arms, Lords’ Chamber, Great Hall of the Count and the clock tower. You need to buy tickets for admission to the Castle.
Lauterbrunnen
This is where you can catch a view of Lauterbrunnen Valley, one of the deepest glacial valleys in the world and a prominent tourist spot in Switzerland. Your journey here would start with the village of Lauterbrunnen where you can enjoy a lazy meal and end at the village of Stechelberg. About 72 waterfalls can be viewed here as well as the 300-meter tall Staubbach Falls.
Zermatt
A prominent ski town, Zermatt’s claim to fame is the beautiful Matterhorn that towers high above the town. The highlight of Zermatt is the absence of cars and vehicles to prevent air pollution. You can take a ski lift to visit the top of Klein Matterhorn, which is said to have the highest ski lift is Europe.
Chapel Bridge
One of the most photographed sights of Lucerne, Kapellbrucke or Chapel Bridge was constructed in the 14th century. The bridge is lined with beautiful flowers and makes for a really pretty sight. Along with the bridge, the octagonal Water Tower is also photographed quite a bit.
Trummelbach Falls
The Trummelback Waterfalls are located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley and are fed by the glacial ice that melts during snow. The water gushes down a canyon and an elevator takes you to the top of the canyon where you can walk through the cave-like passages and watch the water flow down the valley.
Jungfraujoch
This is one of the most iconic points of Switzerland, known for having the highest railway station. In fact, an elevator here takes you even higher to the Sphinx weather station. Some of the things you can do at Jungfraujoch are walk through ice tunnels, watch ice sculptures, play with the huskies or ski around.
Confiserie Sprüngli
This is a must visit for all chocolate lovers! From chocolate bars to chocolate nuts, this place is simply exotic. Another must try here is the Luxemburgeli, which are meringue-filled puffs.
Mt Pilatus
Located near Lucerne, Mt Pilatus can be reached by the Pilatus Railway, which is the world’s steepest cogwheel railway. The top of the mountain has 2 hotels and restaurants too and the view from the top is simply splendid. Popular with the tourists is the Golden Round Trip, which includes taking a boat ride across Lake Lucerne, going up the cogwheel from Alpnachstad, coming down the aerial cableways and gondolas and taking a bus back to Lucerne.
Lion Monument of Lucerne
Referred to by Mark Twain as 'The most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world', this monument is carved on the side of a cliff near Lucerne’s Glacier Garden. The lion was built by a Danish sculptor Bertel Thorwaldsen in memory of the Swiss Guards who died during the French Revolution in Paris. The monument depicts a dying lion with a Swiss shield protruding from its side.
Castelgrande
Located on a natural mountain of granite, this was once an important military stronghold. The castle now hosts a number of cultural events including opera, concerts, exhibitions and fashion shows. There are also two restaurants here – Grotto, which is the open-air dining and Restaurant Castlegrande, which is a fine dining restaurant.
