 British Museum
This is known for housing one of the largest collections of exhibits ever found in any other museum. With a staggering collection of over 6 million pieces across its 4 floors, artifacts from Egypt, Greece, Rome, China and more countries are preserved here. You can view old coins, paintings, statues and medals. The Round Reading Rome, now known as the British Library is one of the most important rooms here. Admission is free, though certain specific exhibits require a fee. |
 Tate Modern
Located on the banks of the Thames River, this museum was once a power station. This gallery features international modern art and sculptures by very famous artists like Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. The restaurant here also offers great views of the surrounding regions. Admission is free, though you would need to pay for viewing most exhibits. |
 National Gallery
Located at Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery houses some of the most striking collections of art. The gallery houses both contemporary and classic works of art, including those done by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, John Constable, Vincent van Gogh, Salvator Rosa and Rembrandt. Admission to the gallery is free. |
 Natural History Museum
One of the largest and most interesting museums in London, the Natural History Museum displays exhibits that start with origins of the earth. It houses about 70 million exhibits spread across 5 departments. Some of the most exciting exhibits here include Dippy, the dinosaur skeleton, the model of Blue Whale, the Darwin Centre and the River Thames Whale. |
 London Eye
Located on the banks of River Thames across the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye is one of the most loved spots in London. Earlier called the British Airways London Eye, it has 32 closed capsules that can accommodate 25 people. Tourists can go aboard this and catch the best views of the city. |

Located in London’s museum district, the Science Museum is a particular favourite with travelers. The museum has a collection of over 300,000 exhibits, most popular being Stephenson’s Rocket, Puffing Billy, a DNA reconstruction model built by Crick and Watson in 1953, the IMAX 3D Cinema and an Exploring Space Gallery that tells us stories of human exploration of the space. |
 Victoria and Albert Museum
Popularly known as V&A, this museum houses the world’s largest decorative arts collection, ranging to about 4.5 million artifacts. It was named after Prince Albert and Queen Victoria and has about 145 galleries. The museum is split into 4 collections departments – Asia; Furniture, Textiles & Fashion; Sculpture, Metalwork, Ceramics & Glass; Wood & Image. Admission to this museum is free. |
Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
Now this is one place, which you must visit before leaving London. This is probably one of the few places where you can get up close with your favorite stars and personalities. Take a picture with the Queen, stand by Albert Einstein or pose for a quick round of photographs with the lovable Shrek. The museum features quite a few wax statues of eminent personalities, including David Beckham, Sachin Tendulkar, Princess Diana, Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, Barack Obama, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Spiderman and The Hulk. Tower of London
One of the most renowned structures of London, the Tower Bridge is one of the most iconic structures of the city. Located across the River Thames, it is a combined bascule and suspension bridge located close to the Tower of London from where it derives its name. The Tower of London is one of the most important structures of London. It was once home to the royal family and was later used as a prison. Today the crown jewels are kept here. This tower also houses at all times at least 6 ravens due to the belief that if they are not present, the kingdom would fall. Today the tower is also said to be haunted by various ghosts including Queen Anne Boleyn, Henry VI and Margaret Pole. |
 National Maritime Museum
One of the oldest maritime museums in the world, the National Maritime Museum is believed to house over 2 million collectibles. It has the world’s largest maritime reference library, with some of the books dating to the 15th century. One of the most interesting exhibit you’ll see here is a a re-enactment of the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. |
